With the fast-approaching end of the current continuing resolution funding the federal government through the end of March, the Alliance of Safety-Net Hospitals has asked Congress to extend critical policies that are in jeopardy of expiring without its intervention.

In a message to members of Congress, ASH asked lawmakers to:

  • eliminate an $8 billion cut in Medicaid disproportionate share hospital allotments (Medicaid DSH) to the states;
  • retain expanded access to care via telehealth; and
  • preserve the Acute Hospital Care at Home program.

All three programs play a major role in helping community safety-net hospitals care for the disproportionately large numbers of low-income and low-income elderly patients they serve.
