ASH has written to Congress to thank members for including in the recently enacted continuing budget resolution temporary extensions of relief from a scheduled $8 billion cut in Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (Medicaid DSH) allotments to the states and the extension of expanded telehealth flexibilities.
At the same time, ASH noted in its message that this relief extends only until the end of March and asked Congress to pursue longer-term solutions for these continual challenges.
ASH also asked Congress to eliminate the 2025 reduction of Medicare payments to doctors and to extend the federal Acute Hospital Care at Home, both steps that would improve access to care for Medicare participants.
The assistance ASH seeks is especially important to the nation’s community safety-net hospitals, which care for larger numbers of low-income, low-income elderly, and publicly insured patients than the typical American hospital.
